Hello!

I’m writing to you from a studio near Bethesda in North Wales, a must-visit town if you’re a fan of slate. I think we all love a good slab of slate. Walls, roofing, drinks coasters… the possibilities of slate are almost endless. But we’re not here for that. We’ve started work on the new Frightened Rabbit album and I’m pleased to say that it’s coming along nicely. Anyway, I’m sidetracking again. That’s not even what this email is supposed to be about. It’s more Owl John news I’m afraid. Lord help us.

The side-project gathers pace with the video for ‘Hate Music’ being unleashed on all you slate fanatics.

Also, The 405 premiered another track from the album. The song is called ‘Stupid Boy’. I’m very proud of the fact that I wedged the word “dickless” into the lyrics. Listen out for that, it really is a career highlight for me. If you pre-order the album this is one of them ‘instant grats’ that you’ll get straight away.

Finally, I’m taking John out in the car this week, starting with solo shows in Edinburgh and Glasgow and then Manchester and London at the beginning of August. Expect ribald tales (basically lies), the first performances of a few of the Owl John songs and maybe some numbers from the past (no ‘Snake’). Something for everyone (unless you only like ‘Snake’). At the very least, I’d like the audience to leave with the thought that the show was pretty much worth what they paid for it. You really can’t ask for more than that.

Bye bye! See you in a bit.
Scott
